I enjoy the twist on this one. I think with any tuna sandwich that it is best made with albacore tuna.

There was quite a buzz going around the internet food community about 2 years ago about ';SUBWAY having the best tuna salad..........'; Well, it turns out that they were making it as simple (my credo!!) as you could,
Tuna, salt and pepper and enough mayo to bind it together......
I've come up with a rendition of that, but did a little research and didn't mess up the simplicity of things.......just a little different approach:
1 6 oz can Solid Albacore Tuna in WATER
1 6 oz can Solid Albacore Tuna in OIL
1 6 oz can Chunk Light Tuna in WATER
Drain the cans of tuna packed in water;
Drain SOME of the oil from the tuna in oil
In a medium mixing bowl, add all the tuna and enough Mayonnaise to bind the tuna together.....Add Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.......Cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Remove from fridge and let sit at room temp for 15 minutes.
Now, why does this taste so good??? Albacore tuna in water can be quite dry, even though mayo is added.....Albacore tuna in oil can be just too darned oily. Chunk light is sometimes too fishy, so I came up with the idea through trial and error and found this to be the most acceptable (through many tasters whom I consider to have a sophisticated palet, yes, even for a basic tuna salad recipe...)
add some green bellpepper and cut up pineapple... together with mayonnaise and salt and pepper...
crunchy but delish!
also, in regular tunasalad (tuna, mayo) you can add chopped tomatoes... it gives something very fresh...
we always put sweet chili sauce, because once i didnt have tomatoes and i figured, the sauce is also red, so why not, and now my whole family does it...
Not too much you can do with tuna, but try these tasty tips:
Grate a peeled apple into the tuna. It takes away the fishy taste without changing other flavors.
Or, grate a carrot into the tuna.
Use good mayo, like Hellman's or Kraft's. Dice onions, celery and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Finish with some cilantro.
i make it with tuna, miracle whip (or mayo), a little bit of mustard, pickles chopped, salt/pepper and a dash of garlic powder.
mmmmmmmm.
i'm not a fan of eggs/onions in mine, but to each his own.
My house tuna salad
Mayo
Mustard (plain yellow)
Salt
Pepper
FINEly chopped celery and dill pickles and a tiny bit of onion chopped too.
I put eggs, green onion, sweet relish, lemon juice, drained crushed pineapple, salt, pepper, and mayo.
