I have never cooked tuna steak before, but i decided to try it, and now i dont know how to cook it... any EASY help would be great. Ohh and i dont have a grill, so its the stove top or oven.Thank youWhat is a good, EASY tuna steak recipe?
this is how i cook mine:
first, make a marinade:
2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
1 cup of olive oil
2 chopped sprigs of cilantro
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 tsp of ginger
1 tsp of cumin
3/4 cup of any type of vinegar u like
then, after all ingredients for the marinade are blended in very liquid form, take tuna steaks, and place them in a good casserole dish. pour marinade all over the tuna steak, and cover the dish. place in the fridge for at least 12 hrs. (u said u wanted easy, u didnt indicate how long it had to take :-)
once the tuna steaks are marinaded, take them out of the casserole dish, and place them in another casserole dish. bake in the oven for 20 min on 350 degrees.
i usually cook some pasta, rice, or potatoes on the side of this recipe, and use the remaining marinade to flavor the pasta, rice or potatoes. hope you enjoy this! What is a good, EASY tuna steak recipe?
I like to marinate them in a little soy sauce, a little chili garlic sauce and some lemon juice. Then just sear them on high heat.
Teriyaki is a good seasoning for tuna. You can try this simple recipe and omit the carrots if you want (I do, because I don't like carrots, and it still turns out great).
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
1 1/2 pounds tuna steaks
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 lemon
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 teaspoons sea salt
ground black pepper to taste
1 carrot, grated
Pour the teriyaki sauce into a shallow dish or bowl, and place tuna steaks in the sauce to marinate. Cover, and allow to marinate for about 45 minutes at room temperature. The steaks will cook more evenly if they are not cold.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place tuna steaks in the hot oil, and pour in the teriyaki sauce. Squeeze juice from the lemon over the steaks, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. When the bottom is light brown, flip the steaks, and cook until browned on the other side. The center will still be slightly red. Season with sea salt and pepper.
Place the tuna steaks onto serving plates, and garnish with grated carrots. Serve the pan drippings as a dipping sauce.
The key to great tuna steaks is to sear it and leave it rare in the middle. Coat your steak with a combination of coarse ground peppercorn, kosher salt, celery seed, and garlic. Sear in a hot pan with olive oil, no more than 2 -3 minutes on each side. Serve with a wasabi mayonaise or your favorite dipping sauce. This is also great with white basamati rice and edamame.
Fisrt take aluminum foil and spray it with a little Pam not too much. Then place the Tuna on top of that. Next squeeze fresh lemon juice over the tuna with a pinch of pepper and salt and if you have fresh basil just put it right on top. Next fold the foil up and place on a cookie sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for about 8 to 15 minutes or until cooked the way you like it.
Remember tuna is not a fatty fish so it must be cooked quickly and left almost raw or the fish will turn into a piece of wood. Place 1 tablespoon of butter plus 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to prevent butter from burning. Sprinkle the fish with lemon pepper seasoning found in the spice isle at your local market. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes per side. The middle should give a little. The other option is to make tuna burgers. Dice or grind the tuna, egg (t bind), add mayo, diced onion, salt and pepper, or lemon pepper seasoning and fry until cooked through.
